Our Department aims to guide and
prepare students for life’s many
challenges. We equip them with the
knowledge, skills, and values that
will enable them to successfully
navigate their way in a rapidly
transforming society.
The five focus areas include:
personal development; social
development; physical education &
recreation; careers & the world of
work. The curriculum ties in with
other subjects and leadership
development courses offered at the
Academy.
We also strive to enrich the
curriculum with various projects.
Examples include: Take a Girl Child
to Work and Work Shadow Programme;
Community Service and First Aid
Training. Our educators make
extensive use of technology and
arrange regular presentations by
national and international speakers
on curriculum-related topics and
career development. We work closely
with the Academy’s support network
of nurses, psychologists and social
workers to ensure that students are
developing to their full potential.
Assessment is ongoing and covers a
variety of tasks and activities
which are moderated externally. This
includes physical fitness
development and skills for sporting
codes.
