We strive to provide students with
opportunities to enhance their fine
motor coordination and improve their
problem solving skills.
The focus of this subject is the
application of the technological
process (design process). This
involves the identification of
everyday problems, and the selection
and application of appropriate
resources to develop practical
solutions. The design process
encourages the development of
critical and creative thinking
skills.
Through an open-ended, problem
solving approach, thinking is
combined with doing. Students work
in teams to integrate their acquired
knowledge and skills. They explore
both the positive and negative
impacts of technological
developments on their political,
social, economic and biophysical
environments.
Assessment in Design Technology is
more than assessing the individual
components. As Technology lessons
are mostly project-driven, the
projects are appropriately assessed
and the students’ performance
reported against the three
Technology Learning Outcomes. |
