Each student has an individual
advisor who is particularly
concerned with, and aware of, her
growth and progress in all aspects
of school life. All full-time
teachers are advisors, and some
part-time teachers and
administrators choose to serve as
advisors. Most Advisor Groups are
formed by Grade level with the
teachers of those students serving
as their advisors. In some cases,
groups are mixed by Grade level.
Through the advisor/advisee system,
there is a personal contact for each
student and we ensure she will have
at least one adult at the Academy
who is focused on her well-being and
who is always available for help.
The advisors seek to know their
advisees - their background,
abilities, interests, activities,
attitudes, and study needs.
There are three main roles for the
advisor.
|
I. |
To know the advisee
personally and be
available to her,
both to deal with
problems and to
share in successes.
|
|
II. |
To keep in touch
with the advisee’s
teachers and
residential staff.
|
|
III. |
To act as a contact
person and a
resource person to
the parents/ guardians/ caregivers. |
